About the Author
Somewhere between a dystopian novel and a late-night scroll through the wreckage of the internet, Nyx Vael was born.
She lives in the cyber trenches — that strange, flickering space where technology promises liberation and delivers surveillance, where connection is everywhere and loneliness runs deeper than ever, where the future keeps arriving ahead of schedule and nobody seems ready for it.
She takes notes.
Behind the name is a writer who has spent years observing the world from unusual angles. Someone drawn to the edges of things — to the questions that don't have clean answers, to the stories that fall between genres, to the places where fiction and reality blur until you can't quite tell them apart.
Cyberpunk was never just an aesthetic. It was always a diagnosis.
The corporations got bigger. The surveillance got quieter. The burnout got normalized. The humans kept adapting, kept optimizing, kept scrolling — and somewhere in that loop, something important got lost.
Cyber Trenches exists to look for it.
This space is part fiction, part essay, part signal from the static. You'll find short stories, reflections on digital culture, explorations of what it means to be human in an increasingly inhuman world, and the occasional dispatch from the trenches that may or may not be entirely made up.
Nyx doesn't have a manifesto. Just a keyboard, a lot of unresolved questions, and the stubborn belief that stories still matter — maybe now more than ever.
Welcome to the trenches.
